Practice Overview

Jean practices general, civil litigation specializing in probate matters. Throughout her career, Jean has handled many types of civil litigation and has successfully litigated cases through the appellate courts.  Jean enjoys an AV rating, Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell* Peer Rated for Highest Level of Professional Excellence. When consulted in the early stages of a dispute, Jean provides preventative advice that may eliminate the need for litigation.  Jean is a compassionate and common sense lawyer who understands that most clients prefer to avoid litigation; however, if one must litigate, Jean will provide zealous representation.

Biography

Born in Mobile, Alabama, Jean graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor’s of Art Degree in history, magna cum laude.  Jean graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law where she was Chair of the Moot Court Board and a member of the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society.  While in Law School, Jean won awards for legal scholarship, legal writing, and service.  Licensed to practice in Alabama (1991) and Georgia (1990), Jean has  twenty-eight years of experience litigating cases in state and federal courts nationwide.  She is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Alabama and Georgia.  In 2001, she was appointed as a Temporary Probate Judge of Mobile County and she continues to serve in that position.  In January, 2012, Jean was appointed as an Administrative Law Judge for the Alabama Medicaid Agency.  Jean is the 2018 President of the Mobile Bar Association actively providing leadership for its programs and services.

Probate:  adoptions, conservatorship estates, deceased estates, guardianships, involuntary commitment of the mentally ill, trusts and wills. Civil litigation.
